Wiggle 19th Birthday - May 25, 2013

Wiggle 19th birthday at Paramount, LondonLine-up:

Julien Chaptal
Terry Francis
Nathan Coles
Eddie Richards
Rob Collman

Wiggle celebrates 19 years of moving and grooving London town and we get seriously upwards again, 385 feet to be precise, at Paramount and It's set to be a birthday bash to remember! It's hard to believe that 19 years have passed since we started our journey and what a journey it's been! One thing is for sure though.. time flies when your having fun! So join us in raising a glass to the sounds of:

Julien Chaptal

Julien Chaptal is a multi-talented, Amsterdam-based Parisian performing both as a live act and DJ. First breaking through in 2007/8 on a young Amsterdam based label called Remote Area and subsequently with releases on labels such as Intacto, 2020 Vision and most recently on Saved, Julien has remained at the forefront of the many talents which have emerged from the vibrant Dutch scene.

Performing live always has been one of Chaptal’s main strengths, from the time he started out some ten years ago with his first group Le Clic to the recently formed live-duo with producer David Labeij, MFD. (MFD is also the name of the brand new vinyl-only label the duo have started). As a solo live act he’s also made quite a name, performing at many of the leading clubs and festivals in Europe and as far afield as San Francisco, Seoul and a South African tour, which closed 2012 for him. Yet playing live (and traveling with a lot of equipment) is relatively rare in Julien’s busy tour schedule. Renowned as one of the best DJ’s Amsterdam has to offer – with a diverse style that ranges from deep house and house to tech house and into techno - he has a DJ residency in one of the hotspots of the city: the famous Studio 80, and is a regular on both the WKND Thursday nights and the Welcome to the Future parties.

2013, however, has the look of a vintage year. Julien’s ‘Illin’ EP debuted on Saved at the beginning of February, which kicks off a stellar run of releases through until summer. ‘Tout Près De Toi’ follows on Supernature, ‘The Look On Your Face’ EP is scheduled for release on Defected in April, along with a pair of remixes for Luke Solomon on Classic. A collaboration with Lauhaus on Supplement Facts ‘Jujuman’ - with remix from Franck Roger and a scheduled EP on Classic rounds out a prolific run of form.

Rob Collman (Alienation, Submerge)

Ever since he won Muzik Magazine's DJ competition in the mid 90's, Rob has been wowing crowds with his impeccable mixing skills. He’s one of the founders of Alienation and therefore a forefather of the underground deep house meets techno circuit. He was a regular guest at Stereo Studio in Croatia and he’s been grooving up the radio waves on Electric Lion and Groovesite, Croatia. A rock-solid regular behind the decks at all the parties that really matter, you can hear him for yourself here.

Wiggle Easter Bank Holiday Special 2013

Wiggle Easter Bank Holiday 2013Wiggle moves forward into 2013, after a NYE party that vibrated the very rails of Tottenham Court road tube station, 600 feet below.. we're even underground... when we're 400 feet above the ground.

Next up! and we're back in the sky, at Paramount for some more fun and games!

Very Limited Super £10 Early Birds are on now and there's only 30 of them available.. so move fast!

Dzeta N' Basile

Ingrained into London's underground clubbing scene as individuals for some years now, Italians Davide Zeta and Claude Basile have truly become a force to be reckoned with since their decision to join forces three years ago. As DZeta N' Basile, the duo have managed to carve a name for themselves amongst the underground elite with their very own strain of stripped back, deep house. Already a favourite in the capital, regularly impressing at the city's premier clubs such as Fabric, Ministry and The Egg,the guys have also seen their skills behind the decks generating much more demand further afield into Europe in 2011. Recent months have found the guys in a prolific mood production-wise too, with a flurry of new material either just been released on the likes of ViIVa MUSiC, Plastic City and Akbal Music or set to drop on equally impressive imprints in the coming weeks.

It's easy to see that their stock is on the up and up, something that is only set to continue to rise throughout the rest of 2012 and on into 2013.

Little Mike

Tagged ‘Little Mike’ by bartenders at the 21+ clubs he was playing when he was 15 and still getting dropped off by his Mum, its a miniature namesake that’s doggedly followed him around since. If his growth had been stunted in later life it could have been bad, but going on to achieve respectable man-height and smashing it with his career to date it all turned out perfectly politically correct.

Spinning disco, 80s industrial, early Chicago / Detroit house and techno records as a 15 year old to a crowd six years older than you means you either get confident in your own tastes and technical abilities fast or you don’t get asked back, and go home and watch ‘Knightrider’. Coming from a musical background (his dad is still touring in a bluegrass band and Mike is a classically trained pianist) meant that DJing for Mike was a place where he was comfortable from the word ‘go’ and by his 19th birthday he had already won two ‘Best DJ in Denver’ titles and was esteemed by local magazine ‘Westword’ for his “rare ability to bring together accessibility and adventure”.

Wanting to push his unquenchable thirst for entertaining a crowd (and vodka) further still, Mike entered the world of club and radio promotion. Over the next eight years he was the first to book in Denver the likes of Magda, Craig Richards, Demi, Damian Lazarus, Pier Bucci, Wiggle, Mazi, Ralph Lawson, Random factor, Cari Lekebusch and Mr. C and also threw what became Denver’s first real tech-house weekly ‘Phrunky’ (the vibe and success of which later inspired Little Mike’s record label Phrunky Recordings alongside Ty Tek). He also hosted a monthly mix on Proton Radio called 'Filthy Naughty Little Beats’(ongoing) and guested on two mixes on John Digweed’s Kiss FM mix show ‘Transitions’.

Holding eight year long residencies at The Church and Vinyl in Denver Little Mike has also had regular bookings outside of Denver, including playing clubs like Sullivan Room and Love in New York, The Endup and 1015 Folsom in San Francisco and the notorious 'Degenerates' party during Miami Winter Music Conference where he played alongside Damian Lazarus and Mr C. He has also made it across the pond to play at London’s established 'Wiggle' parties with friend Nathan Coles and revelled in playing gigs as far afield as Istanbul’s infamous Crystal Club.

Horizons of new experience and possibility in the world outside of Denver suddenly accelerated tenfold to Mike. By the time he had decided to leave Denver for Berlin he was not just an obsession of the Denver crowd but mates with all the DJs he had booked (Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, Sasha, Digweed, Nic Fanciulli, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, and Danny Howells had all requested Mike as their warm up DJ when they were in town) and also the darling of the local press. To summarize the extend of this, on a recent Berlin to Denver trip Mike’s flight was entirely paid for through donations from Denver clubbers. He had become what is commonly known as a ‘local hero’.

“Moving to Berlin was a time to take a break after working in the clubs every weekend for virtually 13 years in a row. A time to re-evaluate why I am involved in DJ culture, where I see music going, and to get back out on the dance floor to find out what works, and create a new sound to start fresh and with all the experience from before.”

His desire to entertain a crowd however, has been an impossible flame to extinguish (a common theme to anyone that has ever met him in person) and one he found himself unable to resist during his first 12 months off. Berlin bookings at Watergate and Weekend and some European gigs were vetoed from the ban and weekends have now suddenly become an arena for possible gigs once more.

Blurring the lines of house, techno and electro when DJing his record bag/CD wallet/laptop is completely immune to the possibility of organizing by a particular label, artist or sound. Drawing on influences straight from the throbbing hearts of the UK, USA and Berlin scenes yet without any of the real stereotypes of either, you could just as easily find him playing an old underground disco set as wander into a warped minefield of drug soaked wonky techno.

With Little Mike’s revitalisation sequence now perfectly complete expect to hear a lot more of him over the next 12 months. With gigs in London and The States already scheduled and the re-launch of his label Phrunky Recordings and a fresh remix for Nic Fanciulli, 2010 and the near future looks set to be a fitting part deux to the story so far.

Very Limited Super Early Bird tickets are on sale now for £10 and they're gonna go very quickly as usual!

Wiggle New Year's Eve 2012 with Tim Green

Tim Green (Cocoon / Get Physical)

Terry Francis

Nathan Coles

Eddie Richards

Philipp Ort

Hot on Satan's tail from Wiggle's Halloween spooktacular which even if we do say ourselves, went down deeper than the devil himself. Have a look at some pics from the the night here.

So while we're still picking the remains of bats brains from between our teeth, we are triple excited to announce our next 2012 NYE floor warper back 385 feet above London at the Paramount! We're giving away a free drink to everyone with an advance ticket, who arrives before 11pm and we're opening up at 9.30pm so everyone has enough time to get in and ready for midnight. There are 100 £25 Early Bird tickets on sale now and the last two NYE parties have sold out days before the event.. so don't hang about!

To help see in the New Year in fine style.. we have so far enlisted the skills of the Marvellous Mr.

Tim Green - Wiggle NYE 2012Tim Green

Prepossessing the ability to effortlessly manoeuvre through the realms of house and techno, as dawn breaks over 2012 the many facets of Tim Green’s production dexterity is casting reflections in innumerable directions, illuminating a musical and thought-induced excursion on which the 27-year old is embarking.

Experimenting across the spectrum of electronic music, whether putting out reverberating minimal techno of Amnesia peak-time kind-of-measures, or sprinkling some of that unmistakeable TG charm over productions of popular appeal, his work is stamped by ingenuity, fearlessness and fun – which also granted him the ‘Best Breakthrough Producer’ award at DJ Mag’s Best of British in 2010.

After fully bursting onto the scene in 2008 with modern classics ‘Revox’ and ‘Mr Dry’ snapped up by highly-revered Dirtybird and Trapez Records respectively, and picking up support from top players such as Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Luciano along the way, Tim swiftly catapulted himself into the upper echelons of the techno hierarchy. A string of high profile releases followed in short succession adding Cocoon, Get Physical, Saved & Four:Twenty to an already impressive back catalogue, as well as remixes for XL Records, Sci+Tec, Moshi Moshi and Souvenir.

With an idiosyncratic groove and off-kilter cheekiness his sound has seen him tour the electronic bastions of the world, including Space - Ibiza, Womb - Tokyo, Fabric - London, Sankeys - Manchester, Watergate - Berlin, D-edge - Sao Paulo, Electric Pickle - Miami, WHP - Manchester, Bestival - Isle Of White, SW4 Festival - London, Zouk - Singapore, Rex Club - Paris. As we are heading into 2012 Tim makes a welcomed return to his underground roots, captivating crowds in more intimate yet discerning settings, along with heading up his own night Bedlam, which is currently on everyone’s lips.

On the production side of things 2012 is already looking like another stella year with with a dark and twisted remix of Sacha Robotti ft Qzen's Fotograf on Klasse Recordings and, following on from last year's ‘In Love EP’ on Get Physical, he has teamed up with Robert Dietz & Audiofly for a remix package due for release in April. This summer will see him return once more to Cocoon to release the outstanding ‘Curious Smile’ release, plus an EP for Get Physical and remixes for Supernature & Oh Yeah Records, as well as his much anticipated debut artist album.

If taking into consideration the achievements Tim has reached in the span of merely four years, it is a gathered electronic community that awaits his next move, Where to next?

Wiggle Halloween Howler 27th Oct 2012 at Paramount

Wiggle Halloween Howler 27th October 2012

Djs on the night:

Saytek (Live)

Nathan Coles

Evil Eddie Richards

Samantha Blackburn

Wiggle brings you it's first ever Halloween party and things will definitely be going bump in the night and of course thud thud thud thud! We will be decorating the Paramount in a scary style and fashion for our fearsome fright night and while Fancy dress is not a must, we will be giving away some free drinks tickets for those that impress and a bottle of Champagne to the most evil costume of the evening.

We've got some seriously spooky talent joining our Haunted House residents Nathan Ghouls Coles and Evil Eddie Richards.

Saytek LiveSAYTEK (live)

2012 has been a stellar year for Saytek and was arguably the year when his unique talent was finally fully recognised by the wider scene as he has been tirelessly touring his live show from Fabric to Space Ibiza to clubs and festivals in Poland, Gibraltar, Ireland and all over the UK. Material from his "Live On Cubism" album was only played for the first time to a packed terrace at Space in Ibiza back at the beginning of June. The atmosphere was electric with plaudits heaped upon him by hosts DJ Mag underlining why Carl Cox described him last year as "one of the UKs freshest and most exciting acts".

Saytek now regularly holds headline slots amongst many of the best artists on the scene including already this summer Maceo Plex, Tim Green, Droog, Deepgroove, Mark Fanciulli, Eats Everything, Russ Yallop and many more. Dj mag have also had great things to say about his new live album out now on Cubism: "An amazing live set journeying through Saytek’s distinctive vision of house and techno". The music on offer is written produced then performed live by the man himself, using a classic Roland MC 909, synths, samplers and FX alongside trusty old Ableton Saytek effortlessly takes the audience on an improvised journey through house and techno. Right up Wiggle's street and parked outside our semi detached!

Samantha emanates passion and emotion when she is behind the decks and expresses herself in a way that captivates her followers. She radiates warmth into her audience and creates a memorable vibe with her excellent track selection.

This has recently been recognised on the circuit and Samantha has been labeled one to “keep an eye on” by Mixmag. Just check out some of her mixes here and see why we're excited to have her on board.

Gavin Herlihy

Gavin's music has been a constant feature on underground house and techno’s most iconic labels for the last few years. Forthcoming releases on Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels, Culprit and Leftroom are backed up by previous outings on scene leaders like Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly. As comfortable writing sublime deep house as he is at crafting no-nonsense future techno, few artists have achieved such a broad base of label support as this enigmatic Irishman.

Alex Arnout

Having started his DJ career in Spain, and in the humble surroundings of many a local bar, the nineties were spent learning the basic skills so often lacking in today’s break-through ‘DJs’. Eventually catching the ear of someone that mattered, Arnout began playing more familiar outposts like DC: 10 and Pin Up in Ibiza, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Circo Loco in London. On top of that, his finely sequenced journeys through all things house have also won him a residency at London’s definitive Sunday session, Fuse, as well as gigs at the most revered of them all... fabric. Check out the mix below from his Dogmatik label party and you'll realise why we're so excited about having Alex spin for us!

Rob’s own imprints, Evasive Records, (Which has had over 30 vinyl releases) and sub variants Digital, Deep, Retro have all received constant support and plays from the top DJs in the House and Techno communities. For starters we're very very happy to bring you a DJ/Producer that is so far up Wiggle's street, we've actually had to extend the street and even make the A-Z bigger! Wiggle is proud to present

D'Julz

Whether its through his productions, radio shows, compilations, parties or club sets, D'Julz has been at the forefront of electronic music since his career first began back in 1992. A firm DJ and fan favourite alike, his ability to transcend genres and trends has seen him hold one of the most consistent levels of success of any modern day DJ/Producer. A run of form that is at its strongest, today.

1997 saw the birth of the now legendary, 'Bass Culture' parties at Paris' Rex club. The monthly party has now become the longest running event in the clubs history, and in 2009 gave its name to D'Julz's brand new, and highly successful record label.

Having released his debut productions in the mid 90's, it was the early 2000's that really saw him make an impact. His music has now featured on some of the worlds finest labels, and his releases and remixes for the likes of Ovum, 20:20 Vision, Dessous, Pokerflat, Safari, Real Tone, Get Physical, Mobilee, Rekids, Systematic and 100% Pure have all become essential weapons in the sets and record boxes of the world's elite. In recent times D'Julz has reached a new level of production excellence. 2008's ‘Just so You Know’ on Ovum and 'Fleurette' on Circus Company became instant classics, and his current release for the label 'Rotondo' is well on its way to achieving similar status. His remix of Slam's 'Positive Education' on Soma, and his edit of Anonym's 'Lov Is Easy' on his own Bass Culture label have ruled the DJ and download charts alike.

Arnaud Le Texier

French born artist Arnaud Le Texier started Safari Electronique in London, 2005. An artist with plenty of knowledge and substance behind him, Arnaud had been on the electronic music scene for over 10 years before commencing with Safari Electronique. Arnaud’s career dates back to 1990 when he first began managing record shops and building what is now a huge archive of knowledge, taste and musical dedication to his name. His five year residency at Paris’s Queen and memorable sets around Europe over the years that followed perfected Arnaud’s dj’ing skills, earning him his spot in the worldwide scene where he continues to this day to be aprominent dj and production figure. At the beginning of 2006 Arnaud decided to live in London where he plays in different clubs or parties such as T Bar, Minimal Hospital, Secret Sundaze, Bread & Butter, Half Baked, Multi Vitamins etc … and he is a regular Dj at Fabric since 5 years. Last September he made quite of an impression when he rammed the room 2 of Fabric for Safari Electronique 5 years anniversary, along side Antonio De Angelis, D'julz, David Labeij. In 2009 Safari Numerique was born. It's the little sister of Safari Electronique. On this digital version Arnaud wants to push more upcoming talents with a sound more deep house and deep techno. Arnaud is a perfect blend of natural talent and raw flare with very distinctive music. He produced different EP's & remixes for Bass Culture, 2020 Vision, SCI + TEC, Multivitamins, Climatic Sounds, Children of Tomorrow etc... Through his focus on music quality and originality, as well as his performances on an international level, Arnaud Le Texier is becoming one of the leaders in electronic sound.

Claire Ripley

Over the past 3 years Claire has stormed in to the House and Techno scene with an array of stunning releases with her first major E.P getting signed to Steve Bug's highly respected imprint Dessous Recordings. Becoming a regular feature on the label she not only showcases her original work but also remixing for the Dessous Best Kept Secrets Release.

With 2010 being a big year for Claire she went on to also feature for several other labels such as Neurotraxx, Dogmatik Records and London based Murmur having her huge hit 'Slow Loris' remixed by Solomun which gained respect and plays from none other than Richie Hawtin. 2011 sees Claire pushing the same tempo with a strong output of forthcoming scheduled releases on Gorge's Katchuli and 1Trax with a remix of Robert Owens - I'll Be Your Friend alongside Jamie Jones, Dyed Soundorom, Soul Clap & Gadi Mizrahi, Matt Tolfrey & Inxec and more. Its easy to see why Claire was featured as Keep An Eye On in Mixmag in 2010.
